“Joined up thinking is all about access to dedicated experts at a one-to-one level. It’s about close personal attention but still joining up the range of insight and know-how that you need. It says, ‘we are big enough to help, but small enough to care’.” Paul Renucci, Managing Director, Affiniti Joined up thinking is about improving the connections between people, the information they need and the customers they serve. It is about understanding the relationships between people and technology and being able to see in an instant the implications of any change to one on the other. It is about a way of working with you to find the best path forward with least risk and the best possible results. So when an NHS Trust recently wanted to improve patient care, we knew what changes to recommend and what solutions could help. Now doctors and nurses can check patient details at their bedside using PDAs, including case notes, x-rays and a wealth of relevant information. But we also saw the opportunity to improve the way the Trust managed its data, particularly large files like x-ray images, so that it could be accessed easily at the point of need. The Trust can now stay one step ahead of the standards demanded by the NHS. The result is happier doctors, happier patients and a higher standard of care. Similarly, when a financial services organisation wanted to consolidate 14 offices to create a new, leaner department, we saw it as an opportunity to build a working environment that could improve productivity, reduce carbon footprint and give the company a platform that could support and drive their continued growth well into the future.
